ABKHAZIA, THE OUTBREAK STATE
Primorsk, Abkhazia is a most unlikely place. From being a "small Moscow" on the Black Sea during Soviet times, it has evolved into a apocalyptic ghost town, with a handful of survivors residing in the large, decaying Kruchevskas, as nature takes the infrastructure back.

WHEN HELL FREEZES - BEING HOMELESS IN RUSSIA
St Petersburg, Russia: At Russian metro stations, in the basements and at the elevators about 4,5 milloon homeless live in a constant fear. They fear the cold and they fear starvation. They fear harrasment by the police,  stray dogs, facist gangs or hooligans.
Some steal to survive, kill if they have to. Others beg for food. Some do have a job, but cannot afford a rent. Russian homeless are among the most marginalized homeless in  the industralized world, but  also the worlds most educated homeless.

THE VODKABUDDHIST KINGDOM
Elista, Russia: Calmykia is Europe´s only Buddhist republic. Although, at  first glance a "little Tibet", this is not Nirvana. Calmycia is a straightforeward dictatorship, ruled with a ironfist by its chess-passionated  president, whom wastes the country´s modest budgets at luxury cars, Buddhas teeth  and chess championships. If he is not busy travelling with aliens in UFOs. Ny Tid, 2006

WORLDS OLDEST STOCKBROKER (2004)
New York, US:  The World´s oldest active stockjobber is 95 years old (2004). Michael Pascuma Sr. began as an errand-boy at the American Stock Exchange in 1927. He saw people jump the walls in desperation aftet the crack of 1929 and again in 2001 when the planes crash into WTC on 9/11. He embarked on the shores of Normandy in 1944. He saw the dollar loose the gold standard and internet take over stock broking. He went bankrupt once in 1975, but made it back. And he is the maskot of the Stock Exchange.

MICRO STATES AND MICRO PRINCES
Seborga, Italy: In this  little mountain town in Italy,  inhabitants have found a document from the Middle Age. Now they have proclaimed a independen republic, and have their own flag, law and prince.  We met the prince in his castle.  Read also about other MICRO NATIONS of the world: Ladonia, Christiania and Kugel Mugel.

THE COAL MINES OF THE NORTH POLE
Svalbard, Norway: In Spitsbergen Norway at 78 degrees north operate the most Artic and northern mining in the world. The depth of the black mountain contrats the whiteness of the glaciers.
